چکیده

The aim of this paper is to develop a mathematical framework for acousto-electromagnetic tomography and to introduce an efficient reconstruction algorithm. In electromagnetic wave imaging, the resolution is limited by the Rayleigh criterion, that is, half the operating wavelength. By mechanically perturbing the medium, we show that it is possible to achieve a significant resolution enhancement. We provide a new inversion formula for the permittivity distribution from cross-correlations between the electromagnetic boundary measurements in the perturbed medium and in the unperturbed one. We present numerical results to illustrate the resolution and the stability performances of the proposed reconstruction algorithm. AMS subject classifications. 65R32, 44A12, 31B20

Theoretical study of acousto-optical coherence tomography using random phase jumps on ultrasound and light.

Acousto-optical coherence tomography (AOCT) is a variant of acousto-optic imaging (also called ultrasonic modulation imaging) that makes it possible to get the z resolution with acoustic and optic continuous wave beams. We describe here theoretically the AOCT effect, and we show that the acousto-optic "tagged photons" remain coherent if they are generated within a specific z region of the sampl...

Acousto-optical coherence tomography with a digital holographic detection scheme.

Acousto-optical coherence tomography (AOCT) consists in using random phase jumps on ultrasound and light to achieve a millimeter resolution when imaging thick scattering media. We combined this technique with heterodyne off-axis digital holography. Two-dimensional images of absorbing objects embedded in scattering phantoms are obtained with a good signal-to-noise ratio. We study the impact of t...

Experimental study of z resolution in acousto-optical coherence tomography using random phase jumps on ultrasound and light.

Acousto-optical coherence tomography (AOCT) is a variant of acousto-optic imaging (also called ultrasound modulated optical tomography) that makes possible to get resolution along the ultrasound propagation axis z. We present here AOCT experimental results, and we study how the z resolution depends on time step between phase jumps T(φ), or on the correlation length Δz. By working at low resolut...

Acousto-optic-assisted diffuse optical tomography.

We introduce and experimentally demonstrate acousto-optic-assisted diffuse optical tomography (DOT) using a holography-based acousto-optic setup. The method is based on probing a scattering medium with a localized acoustical modulation of the phase of the scattered light. The optical properties of the scattering medium are recovered with ultrasound-limited resolution by applying DOT reconstruct...

Quantitative Thermo-acoustics and related problems

Thermo-acoustic tomography is a hybrid medical imaging modality that aims to combine the good optical contrast observed in tissues with the good resolution properties of ultrasounds. Thermo-acoustic imaging may be decomposed into two steps. The first step aims at reconstructing an amount of electromagnetic radiation absorbed by tissues from boundary measurements of ultrasounds generated by the ...
